Bio

My name is Pamela McCurdy and I began my teaching career at Sparkman Elementary in September of 1992. For over 20 years I have taught grades ranging from second grade to sixth grade at Sparkman.

A native of Hartselle, I graduated from Hartselle High School in 1988. Continuing my education, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Education (with certifications in early childhood P-3 and elementary education 1-6) from Jacksonville State University in May of 1992. In 2009 I graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Master of Arts in Education (with a certification in early childhood P-3). I was named Who’s Who Among American Teachers in 2005-2006 and 2006-2007.

My teaching career at Sparkman has allowed me to teach many different age groups. As a first year teacher at Sparkman, I taught fourth grade. For the next 10 years I enjoyed teaching sixth grade. In addition to teaching at Sparkman, I have taught Adult GED night classes at Calhoun Community College, as well as, at the Decatur Work Release Facility. In 2001, I was given the opportunity to move to second grade. It was there I found a love for teaching second graders! They want to learn and love to learn.
